Rafael Moura is hoping to return to the Internacional team in place of the injured Leandro Damião this weekend for the away clash against Santos at the Estádio Vila Belmiro.

Moura, 29, moved to Inter from Fluminense two months ago but has struggled to get going in Porto Alegre due to a mixture of poor form and a thigh injury which has seen him miss the last 5 games.

However, the target man is looking forward to finally getting on the scoresheet for his new club and helping them climb up the table and into the Copa Libertadores qualification spots.

In an interview with Globo Esporte today, he said: “I’m feeling good, I’m 100% recovered from the injury and itching to play again. I’m greedy, I like to play, to be well physically. There is nothing worse for a player than being injured.”

Moura acknowledge that the loss of Damião will be a huge blow for Inter, but he is looking forward to getting his chance and to play alongside Diego Forlan.

“I am saddened by the fact that Leandro is injured. I am now back from a muscle problem and I know how bad it is to be out. However, I have to grab these opportunities to get used to things here at Inter and also to enjoy the chance to regain my rhythm.

“Even knowing that Damião is a great player, I’m ready to replace him.”
