Luiz Felipe Scolari has taken up an advisory role with Brazil, following his recent dismissal from Palmeiras.
The 64-year-old, who guided Brazil to World Cup glory in 2002, was sacked earlier this month as his side were lying in nineteenth place in the Brasileirão, seven points from safety.
Brazil’s Minister of Sport, Aldo Rebelo, requested that the former Chelsea boss was given the role, which is yet to be disclosed.
It is believed Scolari will act as an ambassador for children and be involved in the South American country’s Second Half government program, which is responsible for improving sporting development ahead of Brazil’s hosting of the 2014 World Cup.
He said: “I’ve been a PE teacher before and the kids taught me a lot. This is another opportunity to be involved with them.”
Rebelo said: “It is an honour to receive the presence of a Brazilian world champion. We’re already hosting the World Cup, so we must value football for future generations, who are the children.”
