Mano Menezes has shrugged off the boos by fans during Brazil’s 2-1 win over Argentina, while Neymar says that it is a negative experience for the players.

The Seleção struggled to overcome a much weaker Argentina side, falling behind to a goal from Juan Manuel Martinez before eventually stealing a narrow win through Paulinho and a late Neymar penalty.

They were jeered by fans for their poor performance, but Menezes feels this reaction was aimed solely at the substitution of Lucas Moura for tactical reasons.

“The fans have their preferences but my job is to try to make the national team improve. It did and that’s how we got victory in the end,” the Brazil boss said after the game.

Neymar was unhappy at the response of the crowd and felt that the booing was premature.

“I don’t think you should jeer during the game. You’ve got to wait until it’s over,” he told reporters.

“No-one likes to be jeered, no-one likes to be criticised, that’s why we give our best on the field.”
