Chelsea new-boy Oscar is relishing the opportunity to play alongside Frank Lampard as he admired the midfielder whilst growing up, but admitted that Kaká is his boyhood idol.

The 21-year-old signed for the Blues this summer, following a £25 million transfer from Internacional, but is yet to make Roberto Di Matteo’s starting eleven.

With fierce competition in Chelsea’s midfield, with players such as Eden Hazard, Juan Mata and fellow Brazilian Ramires at the club, Oscar has only made three substitute appearances since moving to Stamford Bridge.

However, the attacking midfielder is patiently waiting for his opportunity and revealed his admiration for long-serving Blues player Frank Lampard.

Oscar said: “I can’t wait to play alongside Frank Lampard.

“I loved to watch him when I was growing up. I always thought he was an outstanding player.”

The Seleção international, who won silver at the London Olympics, also revealed that Real Madrid playmaker Kaká is his idol.

“My boyhood idol would have to be Kaká. He plays in the same position as me and he is an exceptional player,” Oscar added.

Oscar has been likened to Kaká on many occasions and even started at the same São Paulo grounds where the former AC Milan playmaker first made his name.

He could come face-to-face with his icon should Chelsea meet Real Madrid in the latter stages of the Champions League, which kicks off on Tuesday.
