According to reports in Corriere dello Sport, Inter Milan have not given up hope of signing Corinthians midfielder Paulinho in the January transfer window.

Paulinho, 24, was a target for Inter during the summer but is believed to have not considered a move away due to his desire to play in the FIFA Club World Cup this December.

The newspaper reports, though, that there are two main obstacles to the club’s pursuit of the player. Firstly, the Italian side only value the player at €10 million, while Corinthians are looking for closer to €15 million for his services.

The second issue is that Inter are not alone in pursuing Paulinho, with CSKA Moscow also reportedly making enquiries. Any bid from the Russian side would see Inter need to up their financial package offered, which could spell an end to their interest.

Corriere goes on to report that the Milan side are also tracking Porto holding midfielder Fernando, should a move for Paulinho fall through.
