Reports in Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport suggest that Napoli will make a renewed attempt to sign Fluminense full-back Wallace, despite his ownership links with Chelsea.

Wallace, 18, has been a semi-regular in the Fluminense first-team this season, starting 10 of their 24 league games to date and making 19 appearances in total this calendar year.

A direct and powerful full-back, he is now firmly established as first-choice right-back for the Brazil Under-20 side and his displays for club and country have drawn praise from far and wide.

Serie A giants Napoli were reported to have made an approach this summer for his services, but with Chelsea owning 45% of the player’s economic rights from the transfer of Deco, any deal would be complicated.

With Napoli now reported to be making another attempt for the player’s services, it remains to be seen how the Blues will respond.

Observers have previously suggested that the West London side will move to secure the player’s services should any significant interest emerge from elsewhere.
