Manchester United midfielder Anderson has stated that the club must improve on last season after missing out on the Premier League title and failing to win any trophies.
The Red Devils narrowly missed out to rivals Manchester City in the title race, following one of the most dramatic final days in recent memory, and left the FA Cup at the fourth round following an away defeat to Liverpool.
United also failed to qualify from their group in the Champions League, with Premier League rivals Chelsea eventually winning the competition, so Anderson believes the club need to do much better this time round.
The 24-year-old told the club’s official website: “We have to do better. Manchester United have to win every trophy and we’re disappointed if we don’t.
“There’s always pressure to do well when you play for this club. Last season we lost the league on goal difference and everybody was sad. But we have to forget that and concentrate on this season.”
Following an opening day defeat to Everton this season, United have won each of their last two league matches at home against Fulham and then away at Southampton.
New signing Robin Van Persie, who joined for £24 million from Arsenal, has scored four goals in the last two games, and Anderson says the recent arrivals are great players.
He added: “Shinji Kagawa and Robin van Persie have a lot of quality. They make it easier for the rest of the team when they have so much talent.
“It also means everybody works harder to try and keep their own place.”
Anderson arrived at Old Trafford with high expectations following a £20million-plus transfer from Porto in 2007, but has failed to establish himself due to a number of injuries.
However, the midfielder, who has only made 85 appearances, is focused on staying fit this season and started United’s last game against Southampton.
The Premier League giants face Wigan on September 15, before their Champions League campaign kicks-off with a visit from Turkish champions Galatasaray.
