Barcelona right-back Dani Alves has praised he and his team-mates winning start to the La Liga campaign after they hammered Real Sociedad 5-1 on Sunday evening at the Camp Nou.

The Catalan side look no more than four minutes to take the lead thanks to Carlos Puyol, who headed in Xavi’s cross after Sociedad had failed to clear their lines.

The visitors got themselves level just four minutes later as Gozalo Castro found the back of the net.

However, the scores were tied for only two minutes before Lionel Messi skipped past three defenders to smash the ball into the top corner of the net.

The three-time Ballon d’Or winner found the target again five minutes later, and just before half-time, Pedro made it 4-1.

David Villa made his return to Barcelona after spending nine months out on the sidelines with a broken leg, and it was he who put the game to bed six minutes before the end.

”We have started very well and in the league it is always important to start well,” Dani Alves told Barca TV. ”Our team was very organised from the first minute.

”Last year we had many accidents, and we weren’t competitive enough in the league. Tonight was an important moment and will boost the team’s morale.”
