São Paulo forward Luis Fabiano has denied statements that he is leaving the club for Qatari outfit Al Rayyan.

Sporting director Ali Salem Afifeh announced that an agreement has been reached with São Paulo for a transfer, with the Brazilian striker taking the last foreign player slot in their squad.

However, Fabiano has acted quickly to dismiss such notion, and vowed to stay with the Tricolor Paulista until 2014.

“Luis Fabiano would like to deny what was released on Friday, August 17, that there has been any agreement between the player and Al-Rayyan of Qatar,” read a statement released advisory released by the player.

“There have not been any negotiations between Al-Rayyan and São Paulo. The striker has a contract with São Paulo until the end of 2014.”

Luis Fabiano re-joined the Brazilian outfit, for the third time, from Sevilla in 2011.

São Paulo paid a fee believed to be in the region of €7.6 million for the striker, who has made a total of 105 appearances for the club, scoring 74 goals.

In July this year the 31-year-old netted two against Flamengo to become the 7th top goalscorer in the club’s history.
