Inter Milan midfielder Philippe Coutinho has credited his coach Andrea Stramaccioni for his rich vein of form over pre-season.

Inter won their third consecutive Trofeo TIM title after recording victories over both Juventus and AC Milan in the traditional preseason tournament on Saturday.

Coutinho, who spent the second half of last season out on loan at Espanyol, was the stand out performer in the event, scoring the winning goal against Juve and claiming the player of the tournament trophy.

”I’m doing well and, thanks to the confidence of Stramaccioni, things are going better,” the 20-year-old Brazilian told reporters.

”We were set up well on the pitch, I was on the left and I was ready when the Juventus defence got a little careless.”

Coutinho also admitted that he hopes his fellow countryman Lucas Moura will be joining him at the San Siro before the summer transfer window shuts at the end of August.

”I hope that he arrives. He is a champion, but it’s not up to me to decide these things,” he said. ”The club make the decisions in the market.”
