Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Sandro Raniere has expressed his delight at being named in Brazil’s 18-man squad for the Olympic Games and is aiming to guide his country to their first gold medal in the men’s football tournament.

”I feel so proud, so happy,” the 23-year-old told reporters.

”Brazil have never won this competition and I know we have a great opportunity this time and to make history in our country.

”We have a fantastic squad with Neymar, Pato, Leandro Damião, Oscar – every player in the squad is a great player.

”It would be a dream for me if we can win this tournament. If we manage to do it we will be very happy.”
