AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani has announced that the club has finished its transfer spending for the summer, adding that retaining Thiago Silva “counts as a signing”.
The Milanese side have brought in Riccardo Montolivo, Bakaye Traore, Francesco Acerbi and Kevin Constant, but it is the retention of 27-year-old Thiago that the official chose to focus on.
“We made a huge effort to keep Thiago Silva, it counts as a signing,” he told reporters. “We can consider our market closed.
“We will not sign any new midfielder, that area of the squad is complete. Any player could leave, as long as he is not a key member of the team.”
The centre-back had been a serious target for Paris Saint Germain, with the French club seeing a €46 million offer rejected by Italy president Silvio Berlusconi.
