Vasco 3-2 Ponte Preta
Vasco reclaimed pole position in the Campeonato Brasileiro after defeating Ponte Preta 3-2 at São Januário on Saturday night.
Roger fired the visitors in front in the 16th minute before Alecsandro equalised for the Cruz de Malta four minutes later.
Ponte Preta were back in front in the 26th minute thanks to another finish from Roger, but Eder Luis made the score line level again three minutes into to second half.
With 15 minutes remaining on the clock, William Matheus won Vasco a penalty, and Diego Souza made no mistake in converting from the spot to give the Rio giants their fifth win of the season.
Cruzeiro 2-3 São Paulo
Cruzeiro surrendered top spot in the league to Vasco after losing 3-2 to São Paulo in Minas Gerais.
Luis Fabiano fired the Tricolor Paulista in front in the 11th minute, but the former Sevilla forward side’s lead lasted no more than 60 seconds as Rafael Donato headed home Walter Montillo’s corner.
Lucas Moura, though, fired São Paulo back in front in the three minutes later before Jadson made it 3-1 in the 48th minute.
Cruzeiro pulled one in the 53rd minute via another Rafael Donato header, but the home side were unable to find another equaliser.
The result means São Paulo move up to sixth place, while Cruzeiro drop down to third.
Náutico 0-2 Fluminense
Fluminense defeated Náutico 2-0 in Pernambucano with both goals coming from Samuel Rosa.
The Tricolor Carioca are now the only side unbeaten in the Brasileirão and they currently sit in second place, one point behind their local rivals Vasco.
