Botafogo winger Maicosuel is closing on a €5 million move to Serie A side Udinese, to become the latest member of their growing Brazilian contingent.
Maicosuel, 26, has been a key player for the Alvinegro since his arrival from Hoffenheim in 2010, but looks set to become the latest Brazilian talent picked off by Udinese.
The transfer, which could be completed on Thursday, will folllow that of Willians and Allan to the Italian club already this summer, following three Brazilian additions last summer.
“Everyone knows that I have the strong identification with Botafogo and its fans,” Maicosuel told Globo Esporte.
“It was not my mind to leave the club at this time, but eventually the interest of Udinese emerged and the board found that it could be a good situation for both parties and decided to open negotiations.
“I left everything in the hands of Lê (agent). I will try not to get involved. I remain focused, as I always was, to give my best to help Botafogo.”
