Now linked with the likes of Juventus and Manchester United, Vasco defender Dedé has told Globo he came close to signing with a Korean club just two years ago.
Dedé, 23, is rated as one of the finest Brazilian centre-backs worldwide, but it came close to being a very different tale when he struggled for first-team action at Vasco following a 2009 move from Volta Redonda.
“My manager came to me and said: ‘It’s great, sign the contract but please do not send. Only when I give permission’,”Dedé told the reporter.
“I signed, but hadn’t sent it to the Korean club, just to my manager. The board of Vasco had agreed my exit.”
