As round 3 of the Campeonato Brasileiro concluded on Thursday night, Cruzeiro took all three points off Botafogo, while Corinthians shared the spoils with Figueirense.
Botafogo 2-3 Cruzeiro
Cruzeiro came from two goals down to beat Botafogo at the Engenhão.
Much to the disbelief of the Raposa faithful, Amaral gifted the hosts the lead halfway through the first-half by heading in Vitor Junior’s corner at the near post.
Germán Herrera then added to Botafogo’s tally midway through the second-half after being played through on goal by Vitor Junior, but just moments later, Anselmo Ramon gave Cruzeiro hope by scoring a header.
Before Botafogo had time to re-group, the away side got themselves back on level terms thanks to Everton, who arrived at the back post and nodded in Ramon’s cross.
And then 15 minutes before time, Wellington Paulista wrapped up the points for Cruzeiro from the penalty spot after Montillo was hacked down by Milton Raphael.
Corinthians 1-1 Figueirense
Corinthians picked up their first point of the season against Figueirense at the Pacaembu.
Danilo headed the Campeonato Brasileiro champions in front ten minutes just before the break, but late on, Caio guided in Guilherme Santos’ cross to snatch Figueriense a point.
