As round 3 of the Campeonato Brasileiro got underway on Wednesday night, Internacional took all three points off São Paulo, while Flamengo could only manage a draw against Ponte Preta.

Sport Recife 2-1 Palmeiras

Sport Recife managed to get their first win of the season after beating Palmeiras at the Estadio Adelmar da Costa Carvalho.

Marquinhos Parana’s neat finish gave the home side the lead in the 14th minute, but Hernan Barcos put Palmeiras back on level terms ten minutes before the break by smashing the ball into the roof of the net from close range.

However, Felipe Azevedo’s long range strike halfway through the second-half proved decisive as Sport Recife went on to claim all three points.

Atlético Goianiense 0-1 Grêmio

Miralles’ close range finish halfway through the second-half helped Grêmio beat Atletico Goianiense 1-0 in Goiania.

Vasco 4-2 Náutico

Vasco maintained their 100 per cent record in the Campeonato Brasileiro by defeating Náutico 4-2 in Rio.

Goals from Alecsandro and Felipe rewarded the Cruz de Malta early dominance, and then on the hour mark the hosts lead was tripled thanks to Juninho Pernambucano, who ran into the box to finish off Diego Souza’s cross.

Martinez grabbed a goal back for Naútico before Alecsandro scored his second of the night to extend Vasco’s lead.

With two minutes remaining on the clock, Araújo beat the offside trap and rounded Fernando Prass, but the on-loan Fluminense forward’s finish proved to be a consolation for the visitors.

Atlético Mineiro 1-1 Bahia

In front of their new signing Ronaldinho, Atlético Mineiro could only manage a 1-1 draw with Bahia.

Former Manchester City forward Jo fired the home side ahead just after the interval from the penalty spot before Fahel netted the equaliser midway through the second-half.

Coritiba 2-0 Portuguesa

A goal each from Ayrton and Everton Costa in the first-half helped Coritiba beat Portuguesa 2-0 in Parana.

Santos 1-1 Fluminense

Santos are still without a win in the Campeonato Brasileiro this season after drawing 1-1 with Fluminense at the Vila Belmiro.

Renteiria lobbed Diego Cavalieri to give the home side an early lead before Carlinhos scored the equaliser from the penalty spot.

Internacional 1-0 São Paulo

Former Portsmouth loanee Andres D’Alessandro scored a stunning first-half free-kick to help Internacional beat São Paulo 1-0 at the Beiro-Rio.

Ponte Preta 2-2 Flamengo

Vagner Love scored in stoppage time to salvage Flamengo a point against Ponte Preta in São Paulo.

Rene Junior gave the home side the lead early on before Renato’s converted free-kick leveled the score on the half-hour mark.

Minutes after the interval, João Paulo restored Ponte’s lead by belting the ball home from the edge of the box, but fortunately for Flamengo, Vagner Love scored a header just seconds before the final whistle.
