Paulista Championship Wrap Up:

On Saturday It took just seven minutes for Corinthians with new coach Passarella, to score their first goal in what was a 6-1 route. Two goals from Tevez , two from Coelho and Roger & Fabrício providing the others, gave Corinthians there biggest win under MSI. At last the South American ‘Galatico’s’ seemed to gell and looked like they were playing to prove there worth to Passarella. The win mean’t Corinthians finished the weekend in 5th position.

Meanwhile on Sunday league leaders São Paulo were held to a 2-2 draw with Paulista in the Jaime Cintra stadium. The dropping of points gave the chasing pack the opportunity to close the gap at the top. Surprise team Mogi Mirim continued there good run of form that saw them jump to second in the table after an excellent 4-1 win over Atlético Sorocaba. In what was probably the game of the weekend Palmerias managed to secure a 3-1 victory over reigning National Champions Santos, thanks to two goals by second half substitute Pedrinho.

Carioca Championship Wrap Up:

In the second stage of the Rio de Janeiro championship, midfielder Ramon scored an equaliser two minutes into injury time to save Botafogo from a loss against Flamengo at Maracana stadium. Vasco, without injured striker Romario, lost 3-2 to Cabofriense in Cabo Frio and are in danger of being eliminated from the competition.

On Saturday, first-stage winner Volta Redonda beat Madureira 1-0 at Aniceto Moscoso stadium, while Fluminense routed Portuguesa 3-0 at Luso-Brasileiro stadium.
