Thiago, 29, joined the PSG revolution in January and finds himself in the midst of an unexpected title-battle with an over-achieving Montpellier side.

“Montpellier are doing well and they are winning lots of games,” said the Brazilian-born Italian international. “But, we must think only about ourselves.

“If we think too much about Montpellier, it would be unnecessary.

“Of course, we must not only depend on ourselves in the event should they slip up, but right now, it is not the right thing to do.”

PSG could only manage a draw with Auxerre on Sunday night, having taken the lead through another Brazilian, Nenê. The draw cut the gap at the top to two-points with six games to play.
