Coutinho joined the Catalan side from Inter Milan during the January transfer window after struggling for regular first-team football at the San Siro.

The 19-year-old is now enjoying a successful spell in Spain, with leaders at Espanyol having already seen enough to openly admit that they want to keep the Brazilian at the Estadi Cornella-El Prat beyond the end of the season when his loan deal expires.

And when the player was questioned about where his future lies at a press conference on Friday, he said:

”Of course I would like to continue playing for Espanyol. I’m very happy here.

”I try to live my life in the present, therefore I’ll have to wait and see what happens when Espanyol and Inter speak.

”At Espanyol I have opportunities, and I have the confidence of the coach and my team-mates and that makes things easier for me.”
