The former São Paulo playmaker has so far been the star performer for the Biancocelesti this season, finding the back of net 9 times in 25 league appearances.

"I"ve changed a lot [in Italy], even in my personality," the 26-year-old told Globoesporte. "Italian clubs have powerful defensive systems, and for me to adapt, I had to change.

"[In Brazil] I use just exercise the muscles in my legs, because I only liked playing with the ball.

"Here, however, I realised that you must be more cunning, use your arms, push and pull shirts."

Hernanes also revealed how happy he is to be playing for Brazil again after an eight month absence, and insisted that he is determined to become a permanent fixture in Mano Menezes squad.

"I"m very happy that Mano is giving me opportunities. Our group has started to become closer, more cohesive. I don’t want to be a surprise call-up no more. I want my name to always be on the list."
