After spending 43 days out recovering from a thigh injury, Luis Fabiano scored the winner as São Paulo beat Portuguesa 2-1 in the Campeonato Paulista at the Morumbi on Sunday.

The game didn’t see it’s first goal until the 47th minute, when Ricardo Jesus’ headed in Ananias’ cross, to give Lusa the lead.

But just moments later, former Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Jádson equalised for São Paulo, with a well-placed strike from the edge of the penalty area.

The Tricolor were then in the ascendancy, and in the 71st minute, Fabiano clinched what proved to be the winner.

The former Sevilla striker was played through by Jádson, beating the offside trap, and then dummying a shot, before burying his effort in to the back of the net – which had struck the inside of the post on it’s way in.

São Paulo pressed for a third, with Fernandinho going close on two occasions, but Portuguesa keeper Weverton wasn’t to be beaten again.
