In ordinary time, Grêmio took the lead in the 63rd minute – when former Palmeiras striker Kleber tapped in Marco Antonio’s cross.

However five minutes before the end of the second half, Caxias grabbed an incredible equaliser. Marcos Paulo headed the ball home, after a free-kick had been sent in by Juninho.

A shootout was needed to settle the contest and it was Marco Antonio’s missed penalty that handed Caxias the victory (5-4).

Caxias will face Novo Hamburgo in the final on Wednesday at the Estádio do Vale.
