The 27-year-old was close to joining São Paulo in January, after the Paulista club had agreed a reported €8 million deal with Villarreal.
However a move to the Morumbi failed to materialise because Nilmar was unable to agree personal terms with the Tricolor.
”I am happy here, playing again was crucial,” Nilmar told ESPN Brasil.
”I have two years left on my contract with Villarreal and that is why I am staying here.
”It is true that things change in football and that anything can happen, but for me to leave, a good offer for both parties must arrive.”
