The Rio de Janeiro club assisted Botafogo in the purchase of Andrezinho over the past week and as part of that arrangement have negotiated for São Paulo to purchase the Alvinegro’s 50% of the full-back’s economic rights for just under €2.5 million.
São Paulo would then be expected to purchase 20% of Nova Iguaçu’s half, with the small side taking another €700k profit from the player they obtained for next to nothing last year.
Cortês, who has one Brazil cap, will meet with São Paulo officials to discuss contract details on Monday and will hope the decision to resist offers from Europe will still allow him to fulfill his dreams of a prolonged career with the national side.
