The talented nineteen year old impressed in his loan spell at Figueirense in the 2011 season, netting a total of nine goals in twenty five games, as well as being voted the young player of the year in the Serie A championship.
Such impressive performances have caught the eye of clubs across Europe, with Russian side, CSKA Moscow, already tabling a €4.5 Million bid for Tricolor forward.
Wellington Nem’s contract with the Carioca club runs until December 2014 and the player told Globoesporte he wants to establish himself in Fluminense’s first team where he’s yet to make his debut, before heading to Europe.
”CSKA’s offer arrived this month, but I prefer to stay (at Fluminense). I want to play for Fluminense in 2012 and this is the dream of my family too. It’s too early to leave the country. I want to play here for another couple of years at least. Brazil will be the centre of world football with the 2014 World Cup,” said the striker.
The thought of staying in Brazil was supported by the player’s father, Juarez Sanches Aguiar.
”It’s too early to leave (Brazil). Wellington is only nineteen and has just started his career in football. I think he should play at least two more national championships. Adapting to life in Russia would be too difficult. Fluminense was right with us. At no time have they been pressured to sell. They have left the decision in the hands of my son.”
