The news of Alex’ impending departure will no doubt arouse the interest of several top Brazilian clubs, with Corinthians in particular having been linked with a move for the defender since the summer.
Alex never truly established himself as the long-term successor to Ricardo Carvalho at Stamford Bridge and despite inconsistent performances from David Luiz, has fallen behind his countryman in the pecking order.
It seems likely that both players will now be on their way come January.
