It had looked a three team race going into the weekend, but as ever Brazil didn’t disappoint.

Top of the table Corinthians lost to América, Vasco were humbled by Neymar’s Santos and third placed Botafogo also slipped-up against Figueirense.

However, the two other giant Carioca sides, Flamengo and Fluminense were the big winners of the round – seizing on their rivals ineptitude to move within touching distance of the title.

Fluminense are the form team of the second half of the season. Could they repeat their title success of 2010? Only time will tell.
