Estadão believes that 19-year-old will move for a fee of €60 million, in a deal negotiated directly by Santos president Luis Alvaro.
Alvaro and Neymar’s father both gave their consent to the move, but Wagner Ribeiro was not involved in negotiations, as he is no longer Neymar’s agent.
One aspect that fuelled the move was the involvement of Nike. Neymar and Barcelona are both sponsored by the sportswear giants.
Real Madrid, who also wanted to sign the striker, are sponsored by Adidas, and it is believed that a move to the Bernabeu would be less financially beneficial for Neymar.
