It had been announced that the former Brazil captain and coach was all set to take over at Al Rayyan for his first managerial role since leading the Seleção to the quarter-finals of last summer’s World Cup.

However, speaking to Radio Gaucha, Dunga said: “I had contact on Friday, but was later placed in a situation which was not what I was told at first. So I wouldn’t say we were back at square one, but we have moved back a step.

“I will only confirm it when we are sure,” continued the 47-year-old. “It is no use talking to me. I will only talk when there is something concrete.”
