The Da Silva twins

Rafael and Fabio started playing football at a very young age. But they used to play five a side in the suburbs of Rio de Janeiro before Fluminense spotted them and gave them a chance on the larger pitch. They started at Fluminense aged 11 and amazingly never played for the first team.

They were spotted by Manchester United in 2005 and two years later sign with the Red Devils. The story goes that Arsenal tried to highjack the deal and sign the two brothers, but their mother convinced them to sign for Man United.

Fabio

He was originally a defensive midfielder but changed position at Fluminense and since then plays as a left full back. Right from the start of his career at United Fabio has been praised. And Despite several injuries that made his appearance in the team irregular he has all of Ferguson trust. He won the Premier League with United last season and the Community shield the previous year. In 2007 he played in Brazil U17 squad and won South American Youth Championship.

Rafael

He started playing as a striker but was converted into a right full back at Fluminense. His debuts with Manchester United were easier than the ones of his brother. First he wasn’t handicap by injuries and the competition for the position wasn’t as tough on the right as it was on the left.  Like his brother he won the U17 South American Youth Championship with Brazil even though he considered playing for Portugal. In 2010 he made it to Brazil first team in a friendly against the USA but hasn’t been called back since then.  He won the Premier League twice with United, the community shield in 2008 and 2011 as well as the Club World Cup in 2008.

Asked who was the best between him and his brother, Rafael answered: “He is the better on the left and I’m better on the right.”

Anderson Luís de Abreu Oliveira

Anderson started his career at Gremio and became a club hero when he scored a magnificent goal against Nautico in the 2005 play offs that brought the club back to the Serie A. following his achievement he moved to Porto where he had two successful seasons winning the Portugues Liga twice, the Portuguese Cup and the Super Cup.

In 2007 he signed at United and won with the Red Devils the Champions League, three Premier League, the League Cup, the community shield and the Club World Cup. He played 73 games for Manchester United and scored two goals in five seasons.

Anderson played in Brazil U17 squad winning the South American Youth Championship and in the U23 side winning an Olympic Bronze Medal in Beijing. He then made it to the first team with whom he won the Copa America in 2007.
