This afternoon the 23 players defending Brazil’s colors at the Copa America will be official presented to the media. They will then leave tomorrow for Argentina. But today is also the opening of Sambafoot coverage of the most important Cup in South America.

This year’s Copa America will be played in Argentina from the 1st to the 24th of June. Brazil is hoping to win their ninth trophy in the competition and their third in a row. An achievement only Argentina managed to do in 1945, 1946 and 1947.

Brazil’s main opponent will be the hosting country Argentina, who despite having the best player in the world, Messi, will be playing in front of their fans and have a tradition of not loosing many games at home.

But the two giants are not the only contestants. Uruguay will be willing to prove that their good results at last year’s World Cup wasn’t out of luck. And let us not forget Paraguay and Chile who are always fierce competitors in this competition.

As for the outsiders, Columbia has high hopes on their new coach Flacao Garcia, who won the Liga Europa with Porto last season. Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru and Venezuela are keen on creating a surprise. Mexico and Costa Rica, both invited, want to mess around the football hierarchy of their southern neighbors.

For such a special occasion Sambafoot coverage had to be special, therefore starting today you will know everything about the 12 teams involved in the competition as well as the breaking news.

And because our site focuses on Brazil, our reporter Thales Machado will follow the Selecao to Argentina and report on all the events, trainings and games live.
