Sambafoot recently reported that the Brazilian club rejected a £10.5 million bid from Spurs for Damiao, but according to Goal.com Harry Redknapp will not give up on his top transfer target. The English side are now preparing an improved bid believed to be worth £12 million.

Talks between the two clubs are ongoing, and although Internacional have quoted a price of £17 million, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is hoping to negotiate that fee down. Damiao is under contract at his current side until 2016, and the club president Giovanni Luigi has made it clear he does not want to sell the player until the end of 2011.

Internacional coach Paulo Roberto Falcao has resigned himself to losing Damiao, stating that it is ‘inevitable’ that he will leave after his fine form attracted interest from European sides. The 21-year-old has scored 22 goals in 24 games for Internacional and scored in the 2010 Copa Libertadores final.

Damiao is currently with the Brazil squad preparing for the friendlies against the Netherlands and Romania, and has every chance of going to the Copa America next month. He has played once for the Seleção, in the 2-0 win against Scotland at the Emirates Stadium earlier this year.
