ESPN reports that Menezes, 23, wants to leave the Portuguese giants due to a lack of first team football, having only made 12 league appearances in two seasons since joining from Goias in 2009. Now, the Brazilian playmaker’s agent, Luiz Carlini, is attempting to engineer a move to England.

Speaking to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Carlini explained: “Fulham want Felipe and there’s a possibility the move could happen. He wants regular first team football and the Premier League is a big option.” These comments seem to have paved the way for Fulham boss Mark Hughes to make his first summer signing.

Carlini was in London last night to attend the Champions League final, and it is believed that during his time in England he was due to meet with Fulham officials to discuss a deal for Menezes, who made 62 Brasileirão appearances for Goias between 2007 and 2009, scoring seven goals in the process.

The Cottages are looking to strengthen their squad after qualifying for next season’s Europa League via the Fair Play League. It is believed they are seeking a one year loan deal for Menezes, with the option to buy at the end, should he impress.
