Dunga has insisted that Brazil’s sensational record over Chile will count for nothing when they meet in the second round of the World Cup at Ellis Park on Monday.

Brazil have won the past seven meetings between the two sides dating back almost 10 years. “This is merely a statistic, nothing else,” Dunga said. “What is important is our performance on the pitch against Chile. The past is in the past.”

Kaka is now available for Brazil after serving a one-match ban following his controversial dismissal against Ivory Coast while Elano is expected to have recovered from injury in time to feature.
