SWITZERLAND – Brazil 15/11/2006

Injury hit Brazil beat Switzerland 2-1 in Basel on Wednesday. The win gave Dunga his fifth game without defeat.

An excellent first half for Brazil saw goals from central defender Luisão and team captain Kakã. As Brazil out passed and out played their European opponents.

At half time it looked likely that Brazil would go on to register an easy victory. However, Switzerland fought their way back into the game. Forcing an own goal from Maicon, with 20 minutes remaining.

In the second half Dunga made several changes to his team with Ronaldinho coming off for Robinho, Tinga for Fernando, Ricardo Oliveira for Rafael Sobis, Diego for Elano and Daniel Carvalho for Dudu Cearense.

At 2-1 Brazil didn’t look quite so comfortable. Switzerland pressed for the equaliser forcing Helton to make some fine saves on his debut.

Dunga will be pleased to be finishing the year with a victory. However, he may feel that it was a game that Brazil should have won more comfortably.
