Atlético Mineiro announced the signing of Brazilian forward Hulk as a free agent on Friday afternoon.

The 34-year-old departed Chinese outfit Shanghai SIPG and will join the Brazilian side once the Brazilian Championship is concluded in February.

“Striker Hulk is the Rooster’s newest addition. With passages for the Brazilian team and international renown, Hulk is a reinforcement of weight that arrives to wear the white shirt until the end of 2022. The player will arrive in Belo Horizonte in the next days to do the medical exams and sign a contract.” a statement said on the club’s website.

Atletico Mineiro head coach Jorge Sampaoli is a well-known of the 34-year-old veteran forward.

Hulk played only two professional games for Vitoria back in 2005 before moving to Japan where he starred for three different clubs in the space of three years. In that time, he impressed and scored 74 goals and recorded three assists in 111 appearances.

Hulk mostly came to prominence after his move to Porto in 2008. He bagged an impressive 77 goals and recorded 61 assists in 179 appearances for the club. He also saw an Europa League triumph in 2011 and won the Primeira Liga four times.

He then saw another successful stint in Russia when he joined Zenit St.Petersburg and lifted the league title three times.

Hulk also made his debut with the Brazil national team in 2009 and featured 48 times in national colors, scoring 11 times. He was also part of the Seleção squad in the 2014 World Cup.

His latest chapter is now set to continue in Brazil where he will continue his trade with Atletico Mineiro and Jorge Sampaoli.
