Official: PSG announce Mauricio Pochettino as new manager

Following the dismissal of Thomas Tuchel as manager, PSG have moved to sign Mauricio Pochettino as his replacement.

On Friday afternoon, Paris Saint-Germain announced Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager to replace Thomas Tuchel who was given his marching orders.

Pochettino got appointed over a year after getting sacked by Tottenham Hotspur just months after taking them to the Champions League finals.

The Argentine manager was only handed an 18 months contract that runs till 2022, with an option for an additional year.

He was spotted at the training camp for the French club and was announced couple of hours later in an official statement by the French Champions.

Pochettino said in a statement after his official announcement, on how happy and honoured he is to become the new coach of Paris Saint German:

“I am really happy and honoured to become the new coach of Paris Saint-Germain. I would like to thank the Club’s management for the trust they have placed in me.”

“As you know, this club has always held a special place in my heart. I have wonderful memories, especially of the unique atmosphere of the Parc des Princes. I return to the Club today with a lot of ambition and humility, and am eager to work with some of the world’s most talented players.“

“”This team has fantastic potential and my staff and I will do everything we can to get the best for Paris Saint-Germain in all competitions. We will also do our utmost to give our team the combative and attacking playing identity that Parisian fans have always loved.”

Pochettino would be raring to get to work with the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe at his disposal. His first match in charge as the club manager would be against Saint-Etienne on January 6, after the league’s winter break.
