Firmino and Jota was enough to give Klopp a victory over Brendan Rodgers.

Liverpool’s second goal was a brilliant goal that saw 30 passes in the buildup and ended up with Andy Robertson sending a perfect cross for Jota to head home.

In the second half, Firmino was rather unfortunate to hit the woodwork twice with a fine header from a Milner corner. Elsewhere, he was also unlucky to see his goal ruled out by VAR by the slightest of margins.

Firmino has been on a purple patch of form lately with only two goals from his last 23 outings. However, he got his reward four minutes from time with a fine header via another corner from Milner.

After the game, Milner spoke and revealed he was pleased with his side’s attitude in the victory.

He said: “I think we were very good in the first half whereas second half we weren’t as good.

“We let them into the game a bit more but there’s a lot of miles in the boys’ legs with the internationals, but I felt we get the ball pretty well and took the sting out of it”.

Liverpool will take on Atalanta next on Wednesday in the Champions League before turning their attention back to league action with a trip to Turf Moor to face Brighton on Saturday.
