Corinthians recorded their second successive win in the Brazilian Championship with a 2-1 victory over Goais on Monday night.

Timão came into this game with much confidence after beating leaders São Paulo last time but they got an early scare. Fernandão scored the first goal of the game just after three minute and gave Goais a dream start to the match.

It didn’t take long for Corinthians to level the scoring with Mosquito via an assist from Cazares in the 14th minute.

The first half ended level and 10 minutes into the second period, Jô completed the turnaround for Corinthians with yet another assist from Cazares.

Timão dominated the game from then and went on to take home all three points.

After finding themselves in the relegation zone at some stage in the Brasileirão, Corinthians now have a run of five games without a loss in the competition.

The situation is a completely different one for Goiás who remain rooted to the bottom of the league with only 20 points from 26 games so far.

A big scare in the game for Corinthians when goalkeeper Cássio clashed heads with Vinicius in the 32nd minute of the game. He initially lay on the ground without moving for a bit until the team doctor came around to revive him.

He was eventually stretchered off the pitch and taken to the hospital for further evaluation.

With the victory, Corinthians moved up to ninth place with 36 points. On the other hand, Goais remains bottom of the standings and are looking more and more likely to be relegated at this stage.
