Despite the efforts of the club to increase the 19-year-old’s wages, it would appear the highly rated youngster wants a challenge somewhere else.

It’s reported that Santos offered Yuri a 230 thousand salary, R $ 3 million in total and 30% of the economic rights for the athlete recently. However, that was not enough to convince the striker to stay.

The new contract offered by the Pexie was a significant increase to the player’s previous contract which was at R $ 120 thousand in salary and also came with an increase of R $ 30 thousand after he hits 25 matches in the first team lineup. In total, it was R $ 1.5 million that was to be paid in three installments.

Reports suggested Yuri has for long had his eyes set on a move to Europe and is finally getting his wish. Some contacts close to the player claim there have been some proposals for the striker already. However, Santos has not been notified of any.

Although, there could still be twist in the youngster’s future. As per details in his contract, Santos have the option to activate a second contract and are also mandated to be informed of any proposals for the player. They can then choose to match the offers if they want.

According to Italian media, Yuri has been targeted by Serie A sides Benevento and Hellas Verona. Peixe have reportedly set a 6 million euros asking price for the 19-year-old but he might ultimately end up leaving the club on a free transfer.
