Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola has praised Douglas Costa and named him as the man to replace Franck Ribéry.

Costa was signed by Bayern Munich from Shakhtar Donetsk for €30 million in early July and has been an ever present in the early season games. He scored against Hamburger in Bayern’s opening Bundesliga game.

Guardiola has been impressed and when asked about his new player yesterday he showered him in plaudits.
“Douglas Costa is a quality player who is hard to find because of the way he can dribble. Any coach looks for such a player. He has only been here for a month but I think he will become one of the five best wingers in the world. Douglas can achieve great things.”

Guardiola went on to state that Costa could eventually be the man to replace Franck Ribéry. The Frenchman has been one of Bayern’s best players for the last eight years but age and injuries are beginning to take their toll.
