PSG defender Alex has confirmed that he is lose to agreeing a new deal with the french champions, following on from earlier assertions that he wished to stay and fight for a place in Paris and inLuiz Felipe Scolari’s Brazil World Cup squad.

The 31 year-old has been linked with a move away, particularly to AC Milan or Napoli, but any chance of a transfer appears to be slim after the centre back told beIN Sport: “My career here can last for several years.”

“I hope to renew the contract as soon as possible. I want to finish my career here.”

Having joined PSG from Chelsea in 2012, Alex helped the club to the French championship in his first season and they are on course to repeat the feat this time out.

He has 17 caps for Brazil but appears to be on the periphery in terms of selection for the 2014 tournament in Brazil.
