Although the squad was picked with the Olympic Games in mind, Ramires had been expected to feature for the first-time since the Copa America. Yet, once more the Chelsea man has been overlooked by Mano Menezes.

Another surprising absentee is Manchester United’s Rafael, who would have hoped to make this summer’s Olympic Games.

The absence of older stars Ronaldinho and Kaka though had been expected, with neither performing at their best in recent weeks.
