The former Brazil international was released by Roma back in March after failing to regain fitness in the Italian capital. In the same month, he returned home to sign a one-year deal with Corinthians but has failed to make an appearance following more issues with fitness.

The Sao Paulo club want him to lose some weight which has been accumulated through months of inactivity whilst battling with injuries. Joaquim Grava, a doctor at the club’s medical department, has confirmed Adriano could finally make his debut for Timon.

Grava said: “Probably, Adriano will debut against Atletico-GO. That is the aim. But of course, it depends if the team needs to be changed.

“He is still about three pounds over, but visually we are much better than before with his weight.”

The 29-year old has had a colourful career in regards to his behaviour, missing training under Roberto Mancini at Inter Milan in 2007 due to birthday celebrations and whilst at Sao Paulo, being sent back from a loan spell early due to continued breaking of the club’s rules.
