Bayern Munich’s Brazilian duo Lucio and Ze Roberto have ridiculed suggestions that Schalke 04 striker Ailton merits a place in Brazil’s national team.

Ailton, 31, won the Golden Boot last season with 28 league goals and has scored six goals in his last eight outings this season.

The pacy attacker has made playing for World champions Brazil his main aim but Lucio and Ze Roberto laughed off the idea.

“We have loads of players like him in Spain and France,” Lucio told the Bild daily. “Haven’t you seen how Adriano is playing at Inter Milan at the moment?”

Ze Roberto pointed out how strong Brazil were up front with Barcelona’s Ronaldinho and Real Madrid’s Ronaldo hard to displace.

“We have so many good strikers in Brazil,” said Ze Roberto. “Should the national coach leave Ronaldo or Ronaladinho at home? If he does not call up Ailton he has his reasons.”
