Menezes had previously hinted that he would make changes to his line-up, but speaking to the CBF website yesterday, he was more positive about the players that faced Venezuela.

He said that he saw the performance as ‘normal’ for an opening game, reaffirmed that Brazil would use an offensive formation, and said that any changes he made would be purely ‘ad hoc’ and timely, if necessary at all.

“Of course the Brazilian national team must always win,” said Menezes. “It is what everyone expects, and in that sense the draw against Venezuela was not a good result. But I also think that the performance was normal for a team’s debut competitive performance.”

Should the side remain the same, it would again mean Brazil would play with the attacking quartet of Ganso behind Robinho, Neymar and Alexandre Pato.

Brazil face Paraguay on Saturday, July 9 at 8pm UK time. Keep checking back at Sambafoot for all the news and build-up.
