“Masterpiece”. That’s how newspaper “O Globo” defined on its front page of this Tuesday’s edition (25) the third goal of the Women’s National Team in the 2023 World Cup. Brazil won 4-0 against Panama at Hindmarsh Stadium in Adelaide, Australia.

With a debut full of Brazilianness, the national team set a TV audience record and was applauded by the national and international media.

The historical importance of the match was also reflected in the broadcasts. TV Globo recorded the highest audience in a morning slot (from 8:01 am to 9:57 am) since August 2008, with a 100% growth in relation to the four previous Mondays. The game scored 16 points on the PNT (National Television Panel), equivalent to 268,083 households or 717,088 viewers.

The Cazé TV channel also achieved unprecedented numbers. On the streaming platform, more than 1 million devices tuned in to the match, breaking the record in the first half, when approximately 795 thousand devices were connected simultaneously.

The newspapers praised the performance of the Brazilian Women’s National Team in Adelaide. On the front pages of several of them, Ary Borges was considered the star of the game. The midfielder was featured in major vehicles such as “O Globo”, “Valor Econômico”, “Folha de S. Paulo”, “Estado de S. Paulo” among other periodicals. Despite the player’s genius, the main point of the national team was the collectivity, the “playing together”.

“The third Brazilian goal, by Bia Zaneratto, translates the collectiveness and talent of the team. Five players took part in the play, already at the entrance to the area, with the right to hit the pen and the heel”, wrote Tatiana Furtado, on the Carlota blog, from O Globo.

In addition, several celebrities from the sporting world also praised Brazil’s third goal, including former US national team player Carli Lloyd, who described the move as “one of the best team goals I’ve ever seen”.

Next Saturday (29), the Women’s National Team will face France, at 7 am (Brasília time). The match will take place at the Brisbane Stadium, in Brisbane, Australia. Brazil will have its last match in group F of the World Cup against Jamaica, also at 7 am, on August 2nd.
