Vasco da Gama’s striker Dimitri Payet injured his knee in training on Tuesday, putting him out of action for the start of the Brazilian Championship. The injury, a sprain to the medial collateral ligament in his right knee, requires at least four weeks of recovery and physical therapy.

“The absence of Payet is a significant loss for the team,” said the medical department, noting the striker’s crucial role. “He’s not only a key player but also a leader whose experience and skill are invaluable.”

With Payet sidelined, the team faces the challenge of compensating for his absence. “We need to see this as an opportunity for others to step up,” the coach stated, emphasizing resilience. “Adversity must bring out the best in us.”

Efforts to treat Payet and get him back in action are underway. “Our focus is on Dimitri’s recovery to bring him back as soon as possible,” the medical team reported, expressing optimism about his return.

As the championship approaches, Vasco is prepared to tackle the challenges ahead without Payet, relying on team unity and adaptability. “We’re ready to face this challenge,” the coach added, highlighting the team’s resolve.
