Journey to the English Premier League trophy

Conquering the English Premier League trophy became the ultimate quest for Liverpool. The title was always absent in their triumphant journey. From the 2017–18 season until March 2020, they stood atop the football world, showcasing dominance in two Champions League finals and notable triumphs against football giants. But Liverpool, a revered football institution, hadn’t tasted the EPL glory since 1990.

Entering pre-season on the heels of a triumphant Copa América victory, Firmino was at the peak of his career. As the season unfolded, an Liverpool became an indomitable force, clinching victory in 26 out of our first 27 games. The dream of an undefeated season encountered a setback, particularly with a shocking defeat to Watford.

In a turn of events, their once-perfect season crumbled, and the onset of the coronavirus pandemic added a layer of uncertainty. They were champions, yet the destiny of the league hung in precarious balance. Still, when the league resumed in June, they won the championship less than a week later.

However, the joy that permeated the air was nuanced, missing the vivacity that fans inject into every celebration. Liverpool’s last encounter at Anfield marked a bittersweet celebration, the trophy presented to a stadium devoid of its spirited audience.

The empty stadiums without the fervent cheers of fans gave them an unsettling reality. Even the attempt to simulate the vibrant atmosphere through artificial means fell short, incapable of capturing the raw emotions only genuine fan presence could evoke. The fans, akin to our lifeblood, were sorely missed throughout the arduous journey.
